Final Year Students 2002

Julie Thai

Julie is in her final year of Computer Science and Electrical and Electronic Engineering double degree majoring in IT systems and Control. Her final year project with OBEL is with the optimization of the probes used for the in vivo measurements of human airways

She likes to climb rocks and to cause the most damage to herself and others surrounding her when she is on blades. When the sun goes down she escapes to the hypnotic sounds of ambient electronica music.

Frances Kong

Frances is a final year Biomedical stream science-engineer who enjoys the company of Germans and needless violence perpetrated against fellow final year students (and web maintainers). Her project involves signal processing for the OBEL OCT systems.

Kevin Cheong

Kevin's project involves the design and construction of a wideband balanced photoreceiver using InGaAs photodetectors to detect light at 1300nm in the near infra-red spectrum. The balanced photoreceiver should improve the signal to noise ratio of the detected signal in an optical coherence tomography (OCT) system.

He is an Electrical & Electronic Engineering student with interests in photography, scuba diving, basketball and travelling.

Lawrence Lee

Lawrence is an Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree student. His project involves the design and construction of a low noise, 10MHz wide bandwidth photoreceiver using an InGaAs photodetector to detect light in the near infra-red spectrum (900-1700nm). The photoreceiver should be able to be used in the lab across a number of projects.

Outside of the university his interests encompass any activity involving the sea, skydiving, basketball, and soccer.
