Dr Loretta Scolaro, who recently completed her PhD at OBEL, has been awarded first prize in the Canon Extreme Imaging Competition at a ceremony in Sydney.
The annual competition, sponsored by Canon, is open to all Australian university students who are developing new imaging techniques or equipment, and aims to promote and celebrate advancement in imaging science research.
Loretta’s entry, “Imaging cancer through the eye of a needle’, described her work in developing miniaturized OCT probes, small enough to be encased in a medical needle. She received a $5000 Canon product voucher and $1000 cash.
