Barry Cense moving to OBEL/UWA

Renowned researcher in optical coherence tomography Barry Cense is moving to OBEL/UWA. Asked about what excites him about the move, Barry said “The combination of OBEL and the Lions Eye Institute represents a perfect intersection of my interests – technical innovation in polarisation-sensitive optical coherence tomography, and clinical research in age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma.  It is a perfect opportunity to leverage my skills and experience to make a real difference in eye health.  I can’t wait to get to UWA.”  Barry’s brief bio is here.

His research has brought him from the Netherlands (Philips Corporate Research), to the USA (Massachusetts General Hospital, Indiana University), Japan (Utsunomiya University) to Australia (University of Western Australia). His research interests include imaging of the human retina with ultra-high resolution polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography and adaptive optics, retinal tracking and retinal diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma.
